// OVERVIEW SUMMARY

A cinematic coffee brewer animation made in Blender. In this project I wanted to push myself visually and explore different ways of animating. I spent a great time building the whole scene from the ground up, using only a few pre-made assets, and tried to include and experiment with several physics simulations such as cloth (with hook), fluids, rigid body etc.

I encountered several challenges during this. The different physics setups were not only very time consuming but also very resource heavy. I did a lot of research and eventually got a better understanding of the behaviour and modular baking in the simulations and the usage of low poly proxy models acting as placeholders for the physics simulations exclusively. This greatly increased the results and sped up the process.
Another thing I dug into was fully optimizing the Blender software as well as the Cycles render settings to the specific system specifications of the machine being used. This hugely saved me a lot of time and I've taken these notes with me to other projects. All things considered, this was a "learning by burning" project.

I also got the time to create some motion graphics in After Effects for the post process stage and edit the final clip in Davinci Resolve with some subtle SFX.

// RESULT RETROSPECTIVE

With the time I had to complete this project I'm proud of what I achieved. Probably one of my most ambitious Blender projects where I learned a lot during the process.
While I wanted to stick with a dark, mysterious and cinematic look in a brutalism monument-looking environment, I probably would have added further details and elements to the scene and play around with natural lighting.
